Stephan's Quintet was discovered by the French astronomer Edouard Stephan. It consists of NGC 7317, 7318A/B, 7319, and 7320. NGC 7317, 7318A and B and 7319 form a interacting group of gravitational bounded objects about 260 million light years away. NCG 7320 - the elongated object on top left of the group - is a foreground object that may belong to a group of galaxies associated with NCG7331.
