NGC7392 (Eskimo Nebula) Gallery

NGC2392 is a young and bright planetary nebula and was dicovered by William Herschel in 1787.

It shows a complex structure of shells. The inner shell is only about 1000 years old and has been ejected by strong stellar winds from the central sun-like dwarf star.

The outer shell - mainly shinning in the greenish light of the OIII line - contains large red filaments.

NGC2392 is about 2900 light years away.
