NGC 7129 and NGC 7142
NGC 7142 is an open cluster in the constellation Cepheus. Nearby, NGC 7129 is a reflection nebula illuminated by young giant stars.
NGC 7129 is about 3,000 light-years away, only half the distance of NGC 7142. Some remote galaxies can be seen through gaps in the dust distribution of the Milky Way. For example, the galaxy PGC 0097261, north of NGC 7142, is more than 100,000 times more distant than the reflection nebula.
