NGC 7129 and NGC 7142

NGC 7142 is an open cluster in the constellation of Cepheus. Nearby, NGC 7129 is a reflection nebula illuminated by young giant stars.

NGC 7129 is about 3,000 light-years away only half the distance of NGC 7142. Some remote galaxies can be seen through holes in the dust distribution of the Milky Way. E.g the galaxy PGC 0097261 north of NGC 7142 is more than 100,000 times more distant than the reflection nebula.
